Biography
Stefano Torboli is a conductor hailing from Trento, whose musical training began with the trumpet and evolved into a passion for choral direction. He earned his diploma in trumpet under the tutelage of Maestro Domenico Zicari at the “F.A. Bonporti” Conservatory in Trento, later completing a bachelor’s degree in Choral Direction at the same institution. His journey continued with a master’s degree—with top honors—in Orchestral Conducting at Rome’s prestigious “S. Cecilia” Conservatory.
Torboli’s career is marked by vibrant international experiences. He conducted Verdi’s "Macbeth" at the Opera House in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, and collaborated with the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra in Kiev, expertly bringing Verdi’s works to life. Additionally, his time as a participant in Maestro Riccardo Muti’s Opera Academy further enriched his professional development.
Throughout his career, Torboli has worked with various orchestras and musical institutions. He has led the Orchestra Sinfonica delle Alpi, delighting audiences with a repertoire that ranges from the elegant Viennese waltzes to some of the most celebrated masterpieces of classical music. His programs have featured works such as Beethoven’s "Coriolan Overture" op. 62 and Symphony No. 7 in A major op. 92, Grieg’s "Norwegian Dances" op. 35, and Puccini’s timeless "La Bohème."
In addition to his conducting career, Torboli is dedicated to teaching. He has contributed to the theatrical magazine "Sipario" and taught at the summer master classes of the Conservatory of Trento’s Riva del Garda section. During the 2019–2020 season, he led the polyphonic choir "En Plein Chœur" in Tione di Trento—a group of around 30 adult singers whose repertoire spanned sacred and secular music, traversing eras from the 17th century to contemporary works.
Most recently, Torboli conducted the "Dolomiti Live Tour Fantasia 2024" with the Orchestra Sinfonica delle Alpi, captivating audiences across various locales in the Triveneto region. His career is defined by an unyielding pursuit of musical excellence, both on the podium and in the realm of education, contributing to the appreciation and dissemination of classical music across diverse cultures and settings.
